The Great Race running event
Why partner with The great race
The Great Race promotes a healthy lifestyle by focusing on health, physical activity and good lifestyle habits. Joining forces with The Great Race means reaching out to a committed, motivated public ready to make efforts to improve their quality of life. The Great Race is organized by a multidisciplinary team of young professionals, in partnership with the Multiple Sclerosis Association of the Eastern Townships. All profits will fund multiple sclerosis research at the University of Sherbrooke. By partnering with The Great Race, you support the values of integrity, health and innovation that will make this event the success we expect.
THE GREAT RACE IS :
A timed, festive and accessible day of running for all levels, from beginners to experienced runners.
Five disciplines : the half-marathon, the 10km, the 5km, the 1km and the grand participatory final: the 4x400 meter relay challenge.
The site of the University of Sherbrooke, with its panoramic campus, its sports center, access to locker rooms and showers, is a definite added value. Its stadium, recently renovated as part of the Canada Games, as well as the woods of Mont Bellevue bordering its facilities, make up an exceptional site for holding this great activity.
At the end of the morning, participants will be invited to a fun fair of physical skills including tightrope walkers, zumba, circus and many others, while having a picnic on the site of the football field and the sports center.
In the early afternoon, the stadium will come alive as part of the participatory and corporate challenge of the 4 x 400 meter relay races. The Great Race is much more than a simple run, it's a healthy day, festive and accessible to all.
The Great Race is planned by physical activity professionals, in collaboration with the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Estrie, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Physical Activity Sciences from the University of Sherbrooke. 100% of the amounts raised will fund multiple sclerosis research at the University of Sherbrooke.
Target audiences
We will try to reach a wide range of runners, from expert to beginner. Since the day is meant to be a great celebration of running, we want every type of runner to feel welcome. We are expecting 3000 runners from all over Quebec.
We target 3 types of participants :
RECREATIONAL
These are new to the field of racing, who have registered with family or friends. They will be attracted by the friendly aspect of the race and the many additions on site, such as promotional items, photo service, massage therapy, etc.
Most will be reached through consumer communications like advertising and press releases. They will then visit the website and will be convinced of the flawless organization of The Great Race and the accessibility that will allow them to participate without necessarily being experts in this discipline.
COMPETITIVE
They are used to running and will probably be more inclined to run long distances. As they have participated in many races in the past, it is the small details of the organization that will convince them of the superiority of our event.
This is the hard core of the participants, those who will furnish the main events such as the half-marathon. We will have to convince them that they will have a unique experience at The Great Race that will stand out from other events of its kind. The variety of events, the quality of the promotional items and the presence of health professionals on site will make it possible to achieve this objective.
They will be reached by word of mouth, specialist magazines and advertising on racing websites.
CORPORATE
These are group registrations that will be offered by the human resources departments of various businesses in Sherbrooke. We convince them with both event values and group packages.
Some of them will be contacted directly by our team to convince them of the benefits of our event. Others will have heard about the race through members of their company who belong to one or other of the two previous categories.
Geographically, we mainly target the population basins of Estrie, the South Shore and Centre-du-Québec. Most of the attendees will be middle class professionals.
