Magog-Orford Harvest Festival : Opening night for the benefit of the Christian Vachon Foundation
The Magog-Orford Harvest Festival and the MRC of Memphrémagog are proud to be associated with the Christian Vachon Foundation. The Magog-Orford Harvest Festival is organizing an opening night for its 24th edition on Thursday, August 31 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bistro SAQ de la pointe Merry in Magog.
For each ticket sold, the Magog-Orford Harvest Festival will donate $20 to the Christian Vachon Foundation to support the Magog Learning Support Center (J'EMM Learn).
“The center takes care of children who have difficulties or learning disabilities. Under one roof, it brings together remedial teachers, written language specialists, psychoeducators, teachers and specialists in family and life coaching. The Magog Learning Support Center is one more step in the Christian Vachon Foundation's efforts to reduce school dropouts in the Memphremagog region”, explains Christian Vachon.
Sumptuous and hearty cocktail reception
This opening night promises to be delicious and entertaining. Under the direction of chef Caroline McCann, a sumptuous dinner cocktail will be served to guests, prepared from regional products. “Everyone will have fun. No one will need to go to a restaurant when leaving here, rest assured! says Chef McCann, giving a few examples of the bites that will be served.
- Beef tenderloin in cocoa crust with mushroom powder, rosemary and haskap compote from Aux champs Mère-Terre ;
- Salmon baklava marinated in maple from Érablière Simard et Côté and chipotle on a lemon and turmeric gel;
- Cucumber jelly flavored with Rose des Champs water, candied cranberries in rose and chardonnay syrup, charcoal flakes of salt.
Winegrowers will obviously serve their best vintage to accompany the appetizers. To enhance the evening, a musical formation will play continuously to ensure an appropriate atmosphere. The organization also keeps a few surprises to brighten up the evening.
“The objective is to create an annual happening. We want our guests to have fun. It's a special moment that will launch the 24th edition of the Festival in force”, underlines the general manager of the Magog-Orford Harvest Festival, Julie Durand.
The prefect of the MRC of Memphrémagog and mayor of Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley, Jacques Demers, adds : “This evening is an opportunity to recognize the work of our producers and the talent of local chefs.
