A TIDEWALK OF RETURNED CONTAINERS
Mission accomplished for Locker Day which was held on July 8 at the IGA extra Gazaille in Magog. Despite the torrential rain, the population turned out in large numbers to offer their returnable containers and thus support the Christian Vachon Foundation with the money from the deposit. More than 18,727 returnable containers were collected, or the equivalent of 2.25 kilometers if placed end to end! An operation that can be measured, yes in dollars, but above all with large blows of spin-offs that cannot be redeemed for cash : outbursts of great generosity, many smiles and the pleasant feeling of sowing well around you.
The event raised additional funds to support the important mission of the Foundation. Remember that the grocer has sponsored ten children to date, proof that we can make a difference one returnable container at a time.

QUOTES
“ Obviously, the population responded massively to the invitation that we had launched. At the end of this deposit day, the partnership that we have built with the Christian Vachon Foundation takes on a new twist and is set to be strengthened. What if we meet next year for such an exciting adventure? ”
- Annick Gazaille, owner IGA extra Gazaille
“ Clearly, the social instructions represent a vehicle through which solidarity is expressed. Giving your "empties" for a good cause is choosing to support your community, while relieving the environment. This weekend, the teams demonstrated that by promoting our returnable containers, you can make a difference and transform your community. ”
- Pascale Demers, spokesperson for Consignéco
" I would like to thank the many volunteers who took turns and who made this day a resounding success. On behalf of the less fortunate families in our territory and the children we will support, a huge thank you. ”
- Christian Vachon, President of the Christian Vachon Foundation.
Let us recall that in the only Estrie region, it is estimated to be close to 19 million the number of returnable cans not returned annually, which represents a sum of just over $1 million. Moreover, there are more than 220 community groups and foundations that would certainly benefit from a financial boost to support their mission and give life to projects.
