$50,000 TO SUPPORT THE FONDATION CHRISTIAN VACHON ORGANIZATION

To help achieve our goals in terms of school perseverance and educational success, financial assistance of $50,000 was granted to our organization this year.

This financial assistance is unquestionably the first in its history. The Group Desjardins du Lac Memphrémagog contributed financially to a number of Foundation activities, including the school cross-country for elementary-aged students. From the very first year, the Group Desjardins du Lac Memphrémagog knew how to lend its support and believe in the mission of the Foundation.

Today, the Group Desjardins du Lac Memphémagog alone sponsors more than 100 students in the 17 elementary and secondary schools of the MRC Memphrémagog. It provides them with financial coverage of all primary needs from the start of the school year until the last day of the school year. Thus, these children are able to receive clothing , school materials and registration for activities of their choice .

It is an exemplary alliance for more than 10 years for which the Group Desjardins du Lac Memphrémagog has supported us in each of the stages of our development. Not to mention this unprecedented commitment by Desjardins employees to further support the cause of our Foundation.

The additional financial assistance of $25,000 granted by the regional council of the Caisses des Cantons de l'Est facilitates our expansion in all sectors of the Eastern Townships. By the start of the 2020 school year, the Foundation aims to consolidate and mature the services it offers to children from the most vulnerable families in the region. To do this, the FCV wishes to support all schools in the Eastern Townships who wish to receive the services of the Foundation in their schools.

Pursue our development with new School Boards such as, for example, in the territory of Granby with the Commission Scolaire du Val-des-Cerfs. This deployment work will represent an increase of approximately 25% to 30% of sponsored children. (Between 650 and 750 requests).

Through these commitments and support, the Christian Vachon Foundation is happy and proud to consider the Group Desjardins du Lac Memphrémagog as well as the regional council of the Caisses des Cantons de l'Est as its most loyal and important partners since its creation in 2006.

Highlights

• Several employees and officers take part in sporting challenges every year with the objective of raising funds for our cause. In 2017, 30 employees formed five teams for the Relais du Lac Memphrémagog and raised nearly $25,000 for our Foundation.
• During the 11th edition of the Relais Memphrémagog, our 1,200 students proudly displayed their personalized name with the Desjardins logo on their sweaters. This brand image and notoriety that our runners have carried, serves us continuously as a reference for our promotion throughout Quebec. This image has great value for the Christian Vachon Foundation.
• The Group Desjardins has an assistance fund which is used to redistribute part of the surpluses made by the cooperative to the community. On the proposal of the board of directors, the members decided, during the annual general meeting, that these surpluses will be paid to the Christian Vachon Foundation.
